In my sketchbook I keep tiny thumbnails of the comic I’m working on. As I go, I paint them with a travel watercolor set and a tiny travel brush that folds into itself.

This way I can make of color map of scenes that chart out the progression of color through the story. I think the color alone tells a story. The first eerie green scene transitions suddenly to warm morning light. I like to work through sketches on both the computer and in my sketchbook until I can see the color in my head. The night after I sketched out these last pages I dreamt everything in lemon and naples yellow.
