I’ve never been on good terms with Cupid or his barbed arrows. In the past I’ve spent my Valentine’s Days alone and grumpy, wearing all black and eating various heavily sugared treats like a mourner at a funeral.
Then one day I decided to get my own pleasure out of the holiday by making things (one of my favorite pastimes) and sending them out into the world. Those Valentine’s weren’t about cuddles, but other kinds of love. That first card was a Valentine tribute to unrequited love and over the years I’ve celebrated pet love, love & hate, and friend love. This year I made a card about finding love at a distance. It’s a bit more flowery than my usual fare, but perhaps I’m trying to hint to Cupid to send something nice in my direction.
