Crumbs by Laura Terry

Just in time for the sweltering summer, the latest and possibly most delicious issue of King Arthur Flour’s The Baking Sheet. I am so tempted to lick the orange cream pie on the cover. Here is my latest cartoon, as featured in the magazine. It’s an ode to TV cooking shows. As a kid I watched re-runs of The French Chef and The Frugal Gourmet. Now, it’s Top Chef, Iron Chef, anything involving good food, ridiculous challenges, and a lot of knives and fire.  But through all the changes, making a mess is still my favorite part of cooking.

Here is the cartoon I made for the latest Baking Sheet, King Arthur Flour’s delicious magazine.

At first I had this cartoon drawn with the floor being carpet. My editor said “You don’t have kids, do you?” I said “Um . . .not that I know of.”

Apparently, no sane person puts a kid in a high-chair over carpet. So, I learned a valuable life lesson (kids+food+carpet= soul-sucking mess) and the carpet became nondescript flooring. Once again artist and editor team up to save the world . . . or at least some imaginary carpet.
