This is a watercolor sketch of my dear darling Prudence, a winged boxer from the comic August Chase. I’m working on Volume 2 right now where she features heavily. I only hope that she finds a way to cheer up by Volume 3. Poor Prudy.
While at MICE, I went to a panel with Raina Telgemeier, Emily Carroll, and Paul Hornschemeier about the art of the graphic novel. These are my notes from the talk including such phrases as “This horrible thing happens to this woman’s face.” It was pretty illuminating, not that you can tell from my sketchbook page. Sometime I just get a little carried away with drawing. Sigh.
